The regular readers of my audio blog probably have read the thread: “How to record FM broadcasts” at:
http://www.goodsoundclub.com/TreeItem.aspx?postID=1644
As you know I turned into to do it digitally and I do like it quite a lot. A couple months ...
Re: Pity
I was not looking for the card to do any buffering; quite opposite I was looking for ONLY I/O interface with no logic aboard. To use PC as the music CD server? What for? It might be a WAV files server, but only t...

Bidat, for whatever reason is remarkably sensitive to electricity, probably it is more sensitive than any other my priced of equipment. What however is ugly is that during different time, during the different problem with electricity the different me...

Yep, Telstar. The 1547 was use in Sony and Teac CD players and believe the first CD-SACD machines used that chip. I know very little about those chips and have none of my personal experience to deal with all of it. The reasons why I brought it up bec...

Hi Romy,How about expanding the D-War and comparing the CEC transport and a PC feeding the Bidat? It should not be that difficult to rip a few CD's onto a PC. I would LOVE to hear the comparison. Using a PC would have a few advantages if the sound is...

Romy, You have mentioned somewhere in the Bidat-Lavry thread about the Bidat being a 20 bit dac but throws out 4 bits (quote below). But, you have also stated that you play 20/44.1 files from your pc set-up into the Bidat and more specifically to co...

I wonder if you're doing your listening with the Bidat using its volume pot or you're using only vinyl with your phono correctors or maybe the ET-T-834 EAR using its volume pot. Maybe the Melquiades has its own attenuators. I'll be glad to know how y...
2) Very smartly rolled off HF. Bidat is not the most advanced HF performer but any other DAC that I heard (you can put here a long list of the best DACs you know off) are too bright for my taste. I do feel ...

I do not know, Paul. I had iDAT 44 and iDAT-M and both of them did not impress me. I think they are all different units. They all use the same iDAT adoptive algorithm (?) but how it is implemented and what are in the rest of those units I do not know...

I do suggest to re-read my post above where I stated that Pacific has remarkably similar sound to Bidat. In Bidat there is one quality that sets it apart from any other converters out there – the Bidat’s dynamic bursts are orders of magnitude less an...

It is always surprised me why audio people never did what FM people did. FM people crated a site: http://www.FmTunerInfo.com where they enumerated in very consistent format all available FM tuners (with exemption of some pro tuners and som...
Yes the Bidat does lock 48khz very well and so does the Idat-m. Something even more suprising and coming from someone that knows these dacs very well is that on a few samples of Bidat they even lock at 96khz! Alas I am not so l...

Since Pacific lost it’s battle to Lavry AD122 as AD converter I was wondering what I might do with this possessor. My initials sentiment was to sell but Pacific to my large surprise turned out to be a very good CD-level DAC. In fact it is so good 16B...

Romy Do you think the Bidat will be back before the move for impressions on the mods? It might be hard to tell what/if the mods make a difference in a positive directions if you throw a whole new room into it. Your experimental control group will be ...

Romy, My Bidat being extremely sensitive to incoming electricity and now with Purepower in my mix I am getting to know my Bidat in a new light. I did think I had a grasp of what the Bidat could and couldn't do but feeding it through Purepower it has ...

Before announcing Lavry complete failure against Bidat when Lavry was driven by a CD transport I have to make a very important comment: in my case the transport was not a regular transport but the CEC-TL0, a know son of a digital bitch.
I know quit...

I remember there was a guy in Chicago (Chig?) who covered Bidat to battery power – I juts do not remember already what was his comments. Chig, if you still around then say Meow.
I personally do not believe in buttery powered DAC like Bidat (IDAT). B...

Spoke with John last night. It seems that the comments of the folks who did the modifications recently are not relevant and the new 2010 modification were not yet implemented on any DACs out there. The new modifications are mostly in PS and analo...
